Learning to play guitar should be fun and easy! I will introduce you to chords, melodies, and rhythmic patterns you need learn to start playing the songs YOU want. We’ll cover good hand position, proper picking and more!
BASS
For beginners I introduce proper hand position and learning first position. I then show you what patterns you need to know to play basic chord progressions and playing with backing tracks.
UKULELE
Have you always secretly thought the ukulele was just the coolest little instrument out there? It turns out that lots of people admire the ukulele and it is experiencing a resurgence of popularity among musicians of all stripe.
MANDOLIN
If you’re picking up the mandolin for the first time I will lead you through basic tuning, establishing proper chording and strumming techniques, basic chords, rhythm, scales, and fun, easy melodies. I will get you started playing right away!
LAP STEEL
I teach C6 and open G on lap steel & open G and open D(E) on slide. in our lessons we will cover Sleepwalk to basic techniques on how to add slide to Blues/Country & Rock!

Whether you want to learn campfire songs, oldies, or new hits, I will guide you through good hand position, proper picking and strumming technique, chords, melody, harmony and eventually to improvised lead playing. Emphasis will be placed on playing songs from the first lesson. Requests are taken at the end of each class. Your input directs the lesson!

ELECTRIC BLUES
I teach 12 bar blues in different keys concentrating on Freddie/BB & Albert King. We use backing tracks and I demonstrate how to play the patterns you need to know!
FINGER PICKING
I teach both Merle Travis & Chet Atkins basics from Freight Train to Classical Gas! I’ll show you how to use a thumbpick and introduce you to more modern percussive styles as well.
FLATPICKING
I teach basic Country and bluegrass tunes from Wildwood Flower to Blackberry Blossom!
ROCK GUITAR
I teach alternate and sweep picking. I cover Hendrix & ACDC & Classic Rock to shred to Frank Gambale.
ELECTRIC COUNTRY
I cover different styles of tele playing and concentrate on pick fingers/thumpick and fingers & three finger rolls!
JAZZ GUITAR
I was in the Jazz program at York University where I studied w Lorne Lofsky & attended workshops w Barry Harris. I teach basic ii-V-I progressions and improvisations. I stress the use of The Bebop scale and how to practice w backing tracks.
For more modern sounds I teach symmetrical scales and patterns and when to use them.

For beginners I offer the perfect introductory course in basic ukulele to get you on your way.
I will introduce you to the basics of playing the GCEA soprano tuned ukulele: how to hold it properly, basic tunings, chords, fingering and strumming techniques. You will leave the first lesson able to strum a tune! For those that already know how to play, I teach more popular strumming techniques , Jazz chords and patterns & popular Uke repertoire.
